Beautiful Sunday Morning

This morning I set out to an 8am service at Holy Trinity Church, a church just beside Coventry Cathedral, but, when I got there, the doors were locked.  After looking all around the church for an alternate entrance and finding none, I decided to take a walk around the two old churches.  Just beside Trinity, there is a small cemetery with people from the 1800s buried there.  That part of town has so many old buildings; I felt like I was in a Jane Austen novel.  Next, I set out for the cathedral, and I'm so glad I did.  I'm convinced that there are few things more beautiful than standing alone in Coventry Cathedral on a Sunday morning with streams of sunlight pouring in.  It literally took my breath away.  It was one of those times when I praised God not by singing or dancing or speaking but by silently standing in awe of His beauty.  That was my worship service this morning (along with one of Dad's sermons that I have saved in my email), and it was wonderful.  I'm going to try to get myself up early enough to walk through the cathedral every Sunday before church.

And now, I am off to Shakespeare country.  :-)

Nothing quite matches the feeling of worshipping alone for the first time in a land that's still strange to you. I could tell you stories, but you're busy making your own. This was a beautiful post, Laura. Thanks for encouraging us all.
Love you...
Praying for you...
